Answer 7 quick questions to see which Patriots RV solar package fits your RV — and what it really takes to run an RV on solar and lithium power.
How It Works
Type, length, electrical service and what you want to run on solar.
Plus a runtime calculator that shows what your battery bank will actually carry.
We confirm roof space, bay space and wiring, then lock in the final price.
What RV Solar Really Costs
Most RV owners are surprised by what it takes to run an entire 30- or 50-amp RV on solar and lithium power. Here is the honest picture before you ask for a number.
Batteries are the big line item
A quality 460 Ah lithium battery runs from $1,700–$2,700 each. A whole-RV system uses four of them — up to roughly $10,000 in batteries alone, before the inverter, solar panels, distribution and the labor to install them.
Air conditioning is the dividing line
Lights, fans, a fridge and small appliances fit a Solar Starter package. The moment you want to run an air conditioner off-grid, you need a Solar Freedom lithium system — a different class of build and a different class of price.
The 2-to-1 rule
We size about 2 watts of solar for every 1 amp-hour of battery so the bank recharges as fast as possible. 1,000 W of panels on a 460 Ah battery is our proven reference; a four-battery bank wants 3,000 W or more — as much as your roof will hold.
Old AC vs. new AC
An older rooftop AC pulls about 2,000 W — one 5.5 kWh battery carries it for a little over two hours. Newer 18,000 BTU variable-speed units draw 300–1,600 W because the compressor and fan throttle instead of running flat out. They are game changers for RV solar.
We don't mix old with new
Factory solar, aged batteries and bargain components are usually out of date and due for replacement, so we don't bolt new Victron gear onto them. If you already have recently installed quality equipment, we can often add capacity — it's case by case.
Installed at our facility
All solar and lithium work is performed at our shop in Krum, Texas, just north of Dallas. We do not provide mobile installs. Every package includes parts and labor, and financing is available.
Four Packages, One Honest Ladder
Every package is Victron-engineered, installed by our Victron-certified technicians, and includes parts and labor. The estimator below tells you which rung fits your RV.
Every package is modular and fully customizable. These are pre-sized, preconfigured starting points for quick and easy selection — more batteries, more panels, a bigger inverter, a different layout: every part of every package can be changed to fit your RV and how you travel.
Run one air conditioner off-grid
Built around two 5,500 Wh lithium batteries (11 kWh) and 2,000 W of solar on four panels, with a Victron inverter, two MPPT controllers, a Lynx Distributor and a Cerbo GX for monitoring. Roughly a 20-amp support setup: one AC plus your small appliances, no generator.
Price range revealed in your estimate.
Full off-grid boondocking — the whole RV
The same Victron architecture in 24-volt form with four lithium batteries (22 kWh) and 3,000 W or more of solar on six-plus panels — as much as your roof can carry. Sized to run two air conditioners and essentially everything else in the RV.
From $20,000 — quoted per RV. See your estimate.

Straight Answers Before You Buy
How much does RV solar cost at Patriots RV Services?
Our Solar Starter 1 package is $5,995 and Solar Starter 2 is $8,995, parts and labor included. Both run lights, fans, chargers, a fridge and small appliances. Running air conditioning off-grid takes a Solar Freedom lithium system, which is a much larger investment: Solar Freedom 1 runs $18,000–$25,000 and Solar Freedom 2 starts at $20,000 and is quoted per RV — a single 460 Ah lithium battery runs $1,700–$2,700 and a whole-RV system uses four of them. Use the estimator above to see which package fits your RV and its price range.
Can I customize a solar package?
Yes — every package is modular and fully customizable. The Starter and Freedom packages are pre-sized, preconfigured starting points so you can pick quickly, but any part of any package can be changed: more or fewer batteries, more solar, a larger inverter, or a different layout to suit your RV and how you travel. We settle the final build at your consultation.
Can solar run my RV air conditioner?
Yes, with the right battery bank. Solar Freedom 1 is sized to run one air conditioner plus small appliances; Solar Freedom 2 is a 24-volt system built to run two air conditioners — essentially the whole RV — off-grid. An older rooftop AC pulls about 2,000 watts, so one 5,500 Wh lithium battery carries it for a little over two hours; newer variable-speed air conditioners draw 300 to 1,600 watts and are far friendlier to solar.
Do you install RV solar at my location?
No. All solar and lithium installations are performed at our facility in Krum, Texas, just north of Dallas. We do not provide mobile installs.
Can you add to solar equipment my RV already has?
It depends on what is installed. We do not mix older or factory-grade solar panels, batteries or components with new Victron equipment — in most cases they are out of date and due for replacement. If you already have recently installed quality equipment, we can often bolt on more capacity. Either way it is confirmed case by case at your consultation, and it can change the price.
