| Solar Freedom 2 | Two air conditioners or the whole RV — true full-time boondocking | 3,000 W or more (6+ panels, as much as the roof will hold) | 4 × Epoch 460 Ah lithium (about 22,000 Wh) | 24 V Victron inverter, MPPTs, Lynx Distributor, Cerbo GX monitoring | 24 V | From $20,000, quoted per RV |
Starter and Freedom prices include parts and labor. Financing is available. Final pricing depends on your RV: existing solar or battery equipment, usable roof space, room in the electrical bay, and the condition of the wiring and components already on board. The Freedom packages move in price mainly with battery count and the amount of solar your roof can carry.

How much does RV solar installation cost?
At Patriots RV Services an installed RV solar system costs between $5,995 and roughly $25,000, and a whole-RV off-grid system starts at $20,000. The price ladder is simple: Solar Starter 1 is $5,995, Solar Starter 2 is $8,995, Solar Freedom 1 runs $18,000 to $25,000, and Solar Freedom 2 is quoted per RV from $20,000 up.
Three things move the number more than anything else. The first is battery capacity — each Epoch 460 Ah lithium battery adds roughly 5,500 Wh of storage and costs $1,700 to $2,700 depending on the model, so going from one battery to four is most of the difference between a Starter and a Freedom build. The second is the inverter: Starter 1 reuses the inverter already in your RV, while Starter 2 adds a Victron 3,000 W inverter/charger, which is the whole reason for the $3,000 step between them. The third is solar wattage, which is limited by your roof. Our sizing rule of thumb is about 2 W of solar for every 1 Ah of battery, so a 460 Ah battery wants close to 1,000 W of panels and a four-battery bank wants 3,000 W or more. We walk through every one of these drivers in our RV solar installation cost factors guide.
Who installs RV solar near Dallas–Fort Worth?
Patriots RV Services installs RV solar at 11399 US-380 W in Krum, Texas, about 45 minutes north of Dallas and Fort Worth and a few minutes west of Denton. All solar work is done at our facility — we do not do mobile solar installs. A lithium and inverter system touches the battery bay, the roof, the converter and the 120 V panel, and doing that work in a shop with lifts, benches and the full Victron parts inventory is how it gets done cleanly and on schedule.
Most of our solar customers come from the Dallas–Fort Worth metro, Denton County and North Texas, and a steady share drive in from Oklahoma and Arkansas for a Freedom build. If you are searching for an RV solar installer near you and you are anywhere in the region, bringing the RV to Krum for a few days is usually the fastest route to a system that is designed rather than bolted on.
Can RV solar run an air conditioner?
Yes — with the right battery bank and inverter. Solar Freedom 1 is built to run one air conditioner plus small appliances off-grid: two Epoch 460 Ah lithium batteries, 2,000 W of solar, a Victron inverter, two MPPT controllers, a Lynx Distributor and a Cerbo GX. Solar Freedom 2 runs two air conditioners, or the whole RV, on a 24-volt system with four batteries and as much solar as your roof can hold.
The rule we size to is simple: one AC needs roughly two batteries, and two ACs need four. Air conditioning is a continuous load, so the question is never whether the inverter can start the compressor — a 3,000 W Victron can — but how many hours the battery bank can carry it and how fast the solar array can put that energy back the next day. That is why the Freedom packages are built around battery count first and solar second, and why we recommend 24 V for the whole-RV build: the same power at half the current means smaller cables, less heat and more headroom.
Why Victron?
We build on Victron Energy because it is the one ecosystem where the inverter, the charge controllers, the DC distribution and the monitoring are designed to talk to each other. Patriots RV Services is a Victron certified installer, which means our technicians are trained on the current MultiPlus-II and Quattro inverter/chargers, SmartSolar MPPT controllers, Orion XS DC-DC chargers, Lynx distribution and the Cerbo GX.
For you, that shows up in three places. Remote monitoring: with a Cerbo GX on the system you can see solar production, battery state of charge and loads from your phone, anywhere, and so can we when you call with a question. Parts and labor: every package is installed with Victron components we stock, so there is no waiting on a third-party kit. Warranty handling: as a certified installer we register the components we install and handle manufacturer warranty claims for you rather than pointing you at a support line.
What is included in an RV solar install?
A Patriots RV Services solar installation is a complete, working power system, not a box of parts. Depending on the package, an install includes:
- Bifacial solar panels mounted to the roof with sealed penetrations and properly sized roof-entry wiring
- Victron SmartSolar MPPT charge controller(s) matched to the array and the battery voltage
- Epoch 460 Ah lithium battery or batteries, mounted on a battery tray built for your bay
- Victron inverter/charger (Starter 2 and Freedom packages) with properly fused DC and 120 V connections
- Lynx Distributor and Cerbo GX monitoring on the Freedom packages, with the app set up before you leave
- Integration with your existing converter, shore power and generator so every charging source plays well with lithium
- Load testing of the finished system and a walkthrough of how it works
Every package is modular and fully customizable. The packages exist so you can pick a proven configuration quickly, but you can add batteries, change the inverter, add a DC-DC charger for charging while you drive, or scale the array to whatever your roof will carry. One rule we hold to: we do not mix old solar panels, batteries or charge controllers with new ones. Recently installed quality equipment can sometimes be expanded, and we will tell you case by case.
How long does an RV solar installation take?
An RV solar installation at Patriots RV Services takes anywhere from three days to three or four weeks, depending on the package and the RV. A Solar Starter on a rig with clean wiring and an open battery bay is at the short end. A Solar Freedom 2 that needs a custom battery tray, a 24 V conversion, roof work for six or more panels and integration with an existing generator is at the long end. We give you a realistic timeline at the consult, and because the system is monitored remotely we can follow up after you pick it up.
Is lithium worth it for RV solar?
For a solar system, yes — which is why every package we sell is lithium. A 460 Ah lithium battery delivers nearly all of its capacity usable, charges several times faster than lead-acid, weighs a fraction as much and lasts thousands of cycles, so the solar array you pay for is actually stored and used instead of being throttled by a battery that cannot absorb it. Lead-acid banks also cannot be run below about half charge without damage, which means you would need roughly twice the weight and space for the same usable energy.
